The chromosome number of I. benacensis is 2n=40 (Mitra 1956). ... Buxbaum (1933-34) regards I. benacensis as a relative of I. germanica (2n=24?, 34?, 36?, 44, 48?, 60? see Fedorov 1969). These discordant factors show that it is better to keep I. benacensis separate from I. aphylla at least until more precise data justify a different status". Annali di Botanica 43: 53-74. Non sono quindi il solo ad aver avuto qualche sospetto su quella sinonimia. Però non so se ci sono state recenti novità al riguardo. B. T. Batsford Ltd., London.). Inoltre vorrei vedere anche il seguente lavoro che ho trovato citato in un elenco di bibliografia (Colasante M. & Mathew B., 1987 - Analysis of European Irises based on specimens in the Kew Herbarium (K) including some comments about critical taxonomic groups. Ann. Bot., Roma, 45 (1): 163-195). Cos'è il tuo Colasante & Sauer (1987)?
